Chenille Blanket.

So, in the box that Mom sent: a really pretty vintage chenille blanket. The problem....lots of tears and holes in it. They can be easily patched, but I'm real tempted to cut it up like a bearded mad man and make a million little bags out of it. Will vintage bedding enthusiasts get a rope and hang me if I do cut it up???? Help me out here.
